Hello, I am Elisha. Welcome to The Balancing Act. I reside in the world’s busiest metropolis, where I am harvesting a marriage of over ten years and raising three kids.

If you are someone who struggles to always find a balance in life, then you are just like me. I am a typical over analyzer who wears multiple hats (or hijabs) and always interested in fulfilling my roles. I am a historian, mother, wife by day and a writer at night. Writing has always been my little secret. Perhaps I was afraid of what we all fear, judgement. My words are the blueprints to my inner sanctum.

When I was six years old, I started to write everywhere and not your typical writing on the walls. I created characters and wrote stories about their experiences. I re-read their journeys and continuously added on. As a mother, I would be really upset if my children wrote everywhere. However, in retrospect my parents celebrated my writing and showcased my skills to others. The walls have been repainted, but their positivity stayed with me and I have been writing ever since. My writing has always been personal but we all have stories to share. My blog is how I chose to share my story. It captures the true essence of who I am as a person. I am passionate about my family, motherhood, reflection, growth, traveling and beauty. I have four sections in my blog that encompass these things, reflections, beauty, family and travel. In the reflection section, I write about my life experiences and their impact. In the beauty section, there are tips from acne to aging. When I write about family, I try to keep it as “real,” as possible in avoidance of pretentiousness. I want to share my experiences, and thoughts towards conscious parenting. Being a wife and mother is one of the many challenges, women face today. When put in perspective it is always a gift.

My writing has evolved from diary entries, notes on my phone to written articles. I have participated in publishing’s such as the Daily News, The Queens Chronicle and Cuny magazine. This is my first time, writing in first person and showcasing myself. A girl who grew up as a dreamer and currently married to a realist. It is a showcase of my insecurities and triumphs. In many ways my narrative is a collision of many worlds. The integration of cultural values of the motherland with American standards of the present. A synchronization of a bohemian cowgirl with the modesty of a Muslim woman. A full-time job in continuous collision with motherhood. I have made peace with my imperfection whilst trying to perfect my authentic self. My search for inspiration and finding beauty in people, moments, time and things drives me.  The intricacies of it all lives within my soul- as I try to find the perfect balance.

Perhaps our stories are similar, our journeys align, and you are trying to be the best version of yourself.  Please subscribe to my blog and let’s find the balance together.

She was powerful,

not because she wasn’t scared

but she went on so strongly,

despite the fear.
